"Letter to Athletic Director and Boys' Basketball Coach, Dean Jones"

I want to thank you and Lutheran High for being so significant in Jacob's life. The Bible says in Hebrews 10:24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” That is exactly what you are doing. I see the difference you are making in their lives. They are more bonded as a team, and it shows on and off the court. Even Shane who never played sports is becoming more committed to the team. I know that as a teacher, I am always wondering if I am making a difference. Sometimes you know and sometimes you don't. I just wanted you to know that you and the school are.

Today, for the first time, I saw Jake pray. There was no particular reason to pray. He just did. I see his heart changing more and more. I, of course, pray for this, and God is so awesome and faithful to do it. However, it is also wonderful to see our part in it. We all have a part in God's plan. This school and your personal investment have made a great difference in Jacob's life. I am so thankful that my mother, who was more stubborn than a bull, was determined that Jacob went to this school even when she could not afford much and struggled so much financially. She definitely knew what she was doing. When she passed away, I was amazed at how the school became the body of Christ. I have heard of churches doing this but not schools. Everyone came around us and helped us. We really needed it too. It was unexpected and such a blessing.

I know you truly care about the boys, and it is wonderful to see them grow together.  God bless you and thank you.
